DC Charging and AC Charging (Fast Charging and Slow Charging)

DC charging, commonly known as "fast charging", is a power supply device that is fixed outside the electric vehicle and connected to the AC power grid to provide DC power to the electric vehicle power battery. The input voltage of DC charging pile adopts a input of three-phase five-wire AC 380V±15%. 

The output is adjustable DC power, which can directly charge the power battery of electric vehicles. As the DC charging pile can provide enough power, and the output voltage and current adjustment range are large, which can realize the requirement of fast charging. 

For passenger vehicles, the average charging time is 15mins to 60mins, determined by the charging pile's output power and the vehicle's current and voltage limits.


AC charging, also known as level 2 charging, is a power supply device that is fixed outside the electric vehicle and connected to the AC power grid, and the national standard uses 220V single-phase or 400V three-phase AC power to provide AC power for the on board charger(OBC) of the electric vehicle. 

AC charging pile needs to connect to the on board charger to charge the electric vehicle.

The common AC charging pile output power includes 7kW, 11kW, and 22kW  in the European area, while the US market may also include 9.6kW. Generally, it takes about 4-8 hours to charge a passenger car with an AC EV charger. The specific situation also depends on different models of power battery capacity and the actual charging power.

CSMS enables Charge Point Operator (CPO) to manage, track and optimize electric vehicle charging. 

Charging Network: If a sufficient number of charging stations have been built within a certain geographical area and a reasonable layout has been formed, it can be called a charging network.


Electric Vehicle Charging Tips

Shallow charging and shallow discharge: The ideal time for charging is when the battery is discharged to a depth of 50%-70%, so it is recommended to charge frequently. Even if there is still more power, it is recommended that you charge once a day so that the battery is often in a shallow cycle, which can extend the battery life.

Reasonable use of fast/slow charging: long-term use of fast charging will cause battery life decay, in the case of having sufficient charging time, it is recommended to use slow charging to replenish the power.

Temperature has a greater impact on charging.While the ideal operating range for lithium-ion batteries is around 70 degrees Fahrenheit, temperatures of 100 degrees can cause a typical EV battery to drop to 80% of its rated capacity, resulting in a decreased range.

Regular charging: If the electric car is not used for a long time, it should be kept charged regularly.
